Dr. Darrell J. Gaskin is a nationally recognized health economist and health services researcher whose work has advanced understanding of health disparities, healthcare access, and hospital accountability in underserved communities. He is the William C. and Nancy F. Richardson Professor in Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and serves as Director of the Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions. His research focuses on the intersection of race, poverty, place, and healthcare systems, with particular emphasis on reducing inequities in access to care and improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Dr. Gaskin has made significant contributions to health policy through his work on safety-net hospitals, hospital quality, and community-based interventions aimed at addressing structural determinants of health. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and has served on national advisory boards, including the Congressional Budget Office’s Panel of Health Advisers. His expertise brings critical insight into how hospital policy and accountability shape equity, access, and community health outcomes.
