Dr. Tatiane Santos is a health policy researcher whose work focuses on the role of hospitals, public health systems, and primary care organizations in advancing population health and health equity. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, where her research examines how health systems and policy reforms shape community health investment and institutional accountability.
Her scholarship centers on nonprofit hospital community benefit policy, multisector collaboration in local health planning, and the intersection of healthcare delivery and the social determinants of health. Dr. Santos is the recipient of a five-year Career Development Award (K01) from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for her research on not-for-profit hospital community benefit and community health planning. She also serves on the board of the Louisiana Public Health Institute and is a Public Voices Fellow of Academy Health. Her work brings important insight into how nonprofit hospitals can strengthen accountability and invest more effectively in community health and equity.
