Dr. Hossein Zare is a health policy researcher and health economist whose work focuses on hospital accountability, health disparities, and the social and structural determinants of health. He is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where his research examines hospital community benefit obligations, tax-exempt healthcare systems, health equity, and the impact of economic and neighborhood conditions on population health outcomes. His work integrates health economics, policy analysis, and epidemiologic methods to address systemic inequities in healthcare access and quality.
Dr. Zare has published extensively on health disparities, income inequality, hospital quality, and community health investments, with a particular emphasis on how policy and institutional accountability influence vulnerable populations. His scholarship contributes to national conversations on nonprofit hospital regulation, healthcare financing, and public health policy reform.
